According to “Act of the Organization of the Bureau of Energy”, the functions of this Bureau include:
1. Formulating energy policies and energy related regulations;
2. Evaluating and planning of energy supply and demand;
3. Granting permission on the exploration, production, transport, storage, transformation, distribution, marketing, and utilization of energy;
4. Reviewing natural gas and electricity prices;
5. Granting establishment permit, and undertaking matters concerning the registration, administration, counseling, and oversight of energy enterprises;
6. Undertaking matters concerning the registration and oversight of energy technical personnel;
7. Establishing an energy database system;
8. Promoting energy conservation programs and education, and providing technical assistance;
9. Promoting research and development of new and renewable energy technology and energy conservation technology;
10.Promoting international energy cooperation;
11.Other energy related matters.
